Today, Ethereum retakes the second place in the CoinMarketCap rating in terms of cryptocurrency market capitalisation. Well, the closest rival Ripple lags only $200 thousand behind. But this is not the most important news about this currency.

Ethereum hard fork is scheduled for February 25. The update will take place in 2 stages: Constantinople is to implement all the necessary changes, while Petersburg will disconnect the protocol, which previously identified vulnerabilities. The time before the hard fork has already been dubbed the new "ice period" for the cryptocurrency. Its daily emissions and the number of transactions have decreased, while the time of creating new blocks has increased. After February 25 these characteristics should return to the usual numbers. Besides, the miners' rewards for creating blocks will reduce from 3 to 2 ETHs.

And the unpleasant news: some special Ethereum-wallet MetaMask has been found on Google Play. It stole users’ data to access real addresses and change them with the hackers' ones. The application has already been deleted, the amount of stolen funds is still unknown.

Yesterday, Tron launched a series of BitTorent airdrops that will last for six years — until 2025. The first portion of the tokens were sent to new owners after creating the BTT block #6,000,000. All Tron-owners will receive 0.11 BTT for each TRX token. Every next year, the rewards will increase. We remind that the Tron Foundation has purchased the BitTorrent project (distributed content network) in the summer of 2018.

By the way, at the end of January, the main news about Tron were related to its sharp increase in capitalisation to more than $2.2 billion. But what rises rapidly, that also falls sharply down: today the project is estimated at $1.6 billion. Therefore, think twice after every big news about the development of this project.

TRON Cares: before the St. Valentine's Day, the Foundation is engaged in charity and supports the ALS Association to help those who have amyotrophic sclerosis. Tron's CEO Justin San has accepted the #VoiceYourLove challenge and passed the baton to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin.
